Young Tabla player Sri Pran Gopal Bandopadhyay is the son of Great Tabla Maestro Pandit Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay, of Banaras Gharana. He was born and brought up with in the walks of rhythm. He has started his initial training from his illustrious father at the tender age of four and continued his talim till today. He has every quality to establish himself as a very promising classical table player in the 21st century.
 
He is a first class holder in M.A. (Music) of RABINDRA " BHARATI UNIVERSITY (Calcutta). In the year of 2002, he has received two prestigious awards, in the month of February he has got the NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP and also in December he has been awarded the second prize in the ALL INDIA RADIO MUSIC COMPUTION in tabla. And he was also awarded PANDIT NIKHIL GHOSH MEMORIAL, promising artistic award from Mumbai, in the month of January 2003.
 
Pran Gopal has already earned appreciation from music lovers s well as reputed musicians for his. brilliant solo performance with his father and on his own, also, at many prestigious music conferences, such as RADHIKA MOHAN FOUNDATION, SAPTASUR, SWARGANGA. SANGEET PIYASI, JULANBARI etc. He has bright promising future ahead. Within a short period he has already gained appreciation for his auspicious accompaniment with some of the elegant music I personalities such as Pandit V G Jog, Pandit A Kanan, Pandit Manilal Nag, Smt Subhra Guha. Smt Purnima Chowdhury, etc. He is now a "B-high" grade tabla artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan.
