Hara
Sankar – the young sitarist born in the musical family of whose grandfather
was Setari Lalmohan Bhatterjee to Berhampore in Murshidabad district. He began
to learn at the age of six under the guidance of his father Late Shri Ganga
Shankar Bhatterjee at Burnpur. After few years when he was just under the
guidance of Bishnupur Gharana from Late Shri Murlidhar Thakur.

Still
from his early stage he was placed in the top of list in order of merit in any
competition such as All India Music competition organised by Prayag Sangeet
Samity, Allahabad, Bharati Bhaban, Burnpur, Kulti, Adra, All India Music
Competition organised by AIR, Calcutta etc.
In
the year 1986 he went to Mumbai for his higher music education from the great
eminent sitarist Padmashri Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffar Khan of Indore Gharana,
Beenkar Style. He was there under lock and key to know the special Bazz –
named Jaffar Khani Bazz at his residence.

“SUR
SINGER SAMSAD” a famous organisation of Mumbai awarded him “SUR MONI”.
Prayog Sangeet Samity, Allahabad also gave him the title of “Sangeet Praveen”
(i.e. M.A. in music). Not only that, he is a science graduate of Calcutta
University. He is Grade "A" artiste of AIR and TV. He takes part in all classical
conference in all over India and abroad also. He visited USSR, Nepal and Bhutan
through ICCR as a member of Cultural Delegation.
He
was staff Artiste of Shri Ram Bharatya Kala Kendra of Delhi as Assistant Music
Director and now he is Staff Artiste of Lok Ranjan Shakha under the Information
and Cultural Affairs of Government of West Bengal in “APANA USTAD” at
Mumbai.
