Arnab
Bandyopadhyay is an experienced artiste per excellence in
the era of Indian Classical to contemporary dance style. With
dedication and perseverance Arnab has the desire to justify
his credentials and give his life and soul to these unique
forms of dances.
A
master's degree holder in Bengali literature from Calcutta
University and a first Class diploma holder in journalism
from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. As a mark of recognition for
his devotion in the field of Indian Classical dance, Arnab
has received various title and awards including the 'Sangeet
Vibhakar', Sangeet Ratna', and 'Sangeet Prabor' award by the
Bangiya Sangeet Parishad.
Training
:-
Arnab has had comprehensive training in Bharatanatyam under
the tutelage of renowned exponent Smt. Anita Mallick and after
that he specialised himself in odissi dance style. He started
his training under famous Odissi exponent Smt. Sutapa Talukdar
and then he started under guidence of Padmabibhushan Guru
Sri Kelucharan Mahapatra.
Where
rhythm is spontaneous:
As the founder director of Darpani Dance Academy he imparts
lessons in Odissi, Bharatanatyam and contemporary dance language
to more than two hundreds of students. He is now seriously
working for the very special children of our society. His
soul rendering productions like Parampara (a journey to the
origin of our Indian Classical Dance), Nritya Madhura
(a collection of dances of contemporaneous reflection), Colours
of India (A bouquet of folk dance), Aabar Aasibo Phire (Based
on Jibanananda Das's Work and Philosophy), Agni:Come Back
Fire (A Salutation to our eminent personalities), Raag-Roop-Ras:(Based
on Tagore's songs with their original Classical Forms), Chakrabyuha
(A tragedy of Mahabharata: a cry for justice), Bratyaa (The
women from an untouchable ethinicity), Nava Rasa (Based on
nine emotions of life), Sambhavami Yuge Yuge (The life of
Lord Krishna) were widely appreciated. As a graceful performer,
excellent trainer and an innovative choreographer Arnab has
already created a niche for himself in the field of Indian
Classical dance. Arnab has performed extensively throughout
the country and abroad & taking part in various dance
programmes and festivals with his troupe or as an individual
performer. He is also a regular performer & choreographer
of Doordarshan and many other television channels of regional
& national network.
